Use RTSP protocol plays live streaming of Microseven camera and encodering in VLC media player. Example, go to VLC medai player, select RTSP protocol, key in the IP address of camera or encoder. You will see the live streaming on your screen.

Hi all,
I just got this working with email help from Jim and thought I'd post the details here for others. I'm working with the four-port video server M7-DVS4PWS. Two steps are required to get RTSP streaming working:
1. Set the RTSP port on the video server through the web interface. It may look like the port is already set to 554 but that's just the default that it's showing you, it's actually set 0. All you need to do it navigate to the page and click the "Apply" button.
2. Download VLC and run it from the command line:
vlc -vvv rtsp://192.168.1.201:554/ch=0
The command above is for the first channel. Increment the "ch=X" value to 1, 2 or 3 for the other three channels.
Hope that helps someone!
Shane

Hi
I had tried the VLC player for the rtsp stream from the DVS. The output dimensions are not proportional. The output width is stretched. Am I missing something here?
Thanks

Only on 4 port DVS, model M7-DVS4PWS or M7-DVS4PWD. You need to set video to CIF format from its drop down list. The VLC player will have full screen.
